We’re thrilled to share that Art Box portal has once again been accredited to cover the Way Out West festival, taking place August 7–9, 2025, in Gothenburg, Sweden. This marks our third time reporting from the iconic Scandinavian event, renowned for its music and film program, pioneering eco and vegan policies, and atmosphere that spills across the entire city. This year, Art Box will be represented by Olivera and Boris Jeranče, bringing exclusive insight and coverage from both the festival grounds and club venues across the city.

Since its inception in 2007, Way Out West has hosted a dazzling lineup of global stars: Prince, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machine, Neil Young, M.I.A., Alicia Keys, Stormzy, Frank Ocean, Robyn, The xx, Patti Smith, Solange, and The Cure—to name just a few. The festival takes place in the heart of Gothenburg’s Slottsskogen park, a lush green oasis where nature and culture blend effortlessly.

The daytime program in the park includes five unique stages—Azalea, Flamingo, Linné, Dungen, and Höjden—each with its own vibe, from massive headline shows to intimate club-style sets. When the sun sets, the party continues at Stay Out West, a late-night program that transforms Gothenburg’s clubs and venues into a playground of new sounds and emerging talent.

The 2025 music line-up includes Charli XCX, Queens of the Stone Age, Chappell Roan, Khruangbin, Iggy Pop, Little Simz, Fontaines D.C., Kneecap, Noname, Wet Leg, Bicep, and many more.

Despite mounting pressure over their outspoken support for Palestine—from U. S. to a recent performanc ban at Hungary’s sziget Festival—Norhern Irish group Kneecap is heading to Gothenburg. At Way Out West, neither the music nor the message will be watered down. Raw, direct and undercompromising.

Way Out West is more than just a music festival. It is a space for activism, film, food, and reflection. Among the highlights this year is the Swedish premiere of Sentimental Value, the latest Cannes Grand Prix–winning film by Joachim Trier.

Set in Oslo, the film explores memory, grief, and the emotional fault lines of a family reunited by art. With a cast including Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning, the film promises to be one of the emotional peaks of the festival.
