Way Out West 2025 officially concluded yesterday, and it has already been announced that the next edition of the festival will take place in Slottsskogen Park from August 13 to 15, 2026. This festival, which this year marks its seventeenth year, remains one of the most important music events in Sweden. The organizers highlight that this might have been their best edition so far.

This year, the festival reaffirmed its significance with performances by artists such as Charli XCX, Kite, Chappell Roan, Queens of the Stone Age, Pet Shop Boys, Khruangbin, Iggy Pop, Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg, Bicep, Kneecap, and many others.

Since 2011, film has been an integral part of the Way Out West experience. This year, music documentaries and major international films were screened, including the Swedish premiere of „Sentimental Value,“ the latest work by Joa Trira, which won the Grand Prix at Cannes.
Record Attendance and Social Sustainability
The festival recorded a record attendance of 78,000 unique visitors, breaking the attendance record for the fourth consecutive year. This data confirms that Way Out West continues to grow and develop, despite being founded over a decade ago, in 2007.

In addition to the music program, special emphasis was placed on social responsibility, which Art Box portal, accredited for the third year in a row for festival coverage, particularly highlights.
„Kidney Pass“ Campaign
One of the more interesting projects this year was the campaign called „Kidney Pass,“ which allowed visitors to obtain a three-day festival pass through registration, thereby demonstrating interest in posthumous organ donation. Such initiatives reflect the festival’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

Sustainability, Inclusivity, and Equality
Sustainable development was one of the key themes of the festival. From the very beginning, Way Out West promotes ecological principles. Since 2012, the festival has been vegetarian, and statistics show that as many as 15% of attendees consume more vegetarian food after visiting.

The festival also strives to be inclusive and promotes equality. The lineup is always gender-balanced, and since 2017, it has collaborated with West Pride to support human rights and create an inclusive space.
Global Solidarity
Way Out West remains a symbol of musical diversity, social responsibility, and sustainability. By including excellent music and film programs, it promotes vegetarianism, gender equality, and inclusiveness.

A particularly highlighted aspect is the atmosphere of solidarity, which was more present than ever this year, both on and off the stages. While the days in Slottsskogen unfolded, serious events were happening around the world, leaving their mark on this year’s edition. In times of injustice, cultural expression and freedom of speech are more important than ever. Way Out West emphasizes that they are proud to be a platform for a global movement of solidarity, especially for people who suffer, such as Palestinians and others worldwide.

No Drugs or Sexual Harassment
As part of its social activities, the festival collaborates with the initiative „Let’s Hear it from the Crowd“ and other organizations to prevent drug use during concerts. They also run projects like „Dare to Care,“ aimed at providing a safe space free from sexual harassment and assault.

Second-Hand Merch
Since last year, in partnership with Stadsmissionen, a circular collection of festival merchandise made from second-hand clothing has been launched, reducing environmental impact and supporting socially responsible initiatives.

Festival Return and Ticket Sales
The festival will be held again next year, from August 13 to 16, 2026, in Gothenburg. A limited edition of Blind Bird tickets is already available on the official festival website. More information can be found [HERE].
