Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840) redefined European landscape painting by using nature to explore deep spiritual and emotional themes. His works highlight the intimate connection between the natural world and the human experience—a perspective that remains powerful today.

The exhibition at The MET (The Museum of Modern Art) features around 75 pieces, including oil paintings, drawings, and sketches, showcasing Friedrich’s innovative approach to landscape art. It also places his work within the cultural and political context of 19th-century Germany, demonstrating how German Romanticism has shaped modern views of nature.

Generously supported by Marina Kellen French and various art foundations, this exhibition at The MET is not to be missed.
