The Carbon Footprint, a collaboration between multimedia and performance artist Dragan Vojvodić and writer Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić, addresses sustainability themes and the balance between individual and collective action. Carbon Footprint encourages visitors to contemplate their roles alongside larger entities in shaping a sustainable future.

As Longyearbyen transitions from a coal mining town to a post-mining society, it poses essential questions about the responsibilities of individuals, society, and corporations.

Why Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint measures greenhouse gases produced by human activities. While awareness of personal carbon footprints has grown, it’s essential to recognize the broader systemic causes of climate change often driven by large institutions and capital.

The exhibition invites visitors to engage with these complexities and reflect on both personal and collective responsibilities in fostering ecological sustainability.

The exhibition opened on Thursday, September 26, at 7 PM at the Spitsbergen Artists Center in Longyearbyen. During the opening, Dragan Vojvodić performed Carbon Footprint, a 14-minute piece.
