American musician, composer and producer Moby will perform on Thursday, 13 August 2026, as one of the major acts at the opening of the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg. It will be his first performance in Sweden in more than a decade, and he will share the stages of Slottsskogen with artists including The Cure and Gorillaz.

This year, Art Box portal has been officially accredited to the music and film festival, bringing you exclusive reports directly from Gothenburg. Way Out West is internationally recognised not only for its ambitious music and film programme, but also for its long-standing commitment to sustainability. The festival has been vegetarian, with a large vegan offering, since 2012, and sustainability has been at the heart of its work since its beginning.
Moby’s appearance at such a festival feels like a particularly fitting combination. Alongside a music career spanning several decades and albums that have helped define electronic music — including the iconic Play — Moby is also a prominent animal-rights activist. Vegan since the late 1980s, he has often described animal rights as a central commitment in his life, while using music as a platform to raise awareness.
In 2026, he pledged 100% of the profits from his Coachella performances to animal-rights organisations, continuing his practice of connecting his musical career with animal advocacy.
