On 14 August, the group exhibition [CROSSCUT] Beyond the Centre opened at Gallery Konstepidemin in Gothenburg, bringing together artists from Novi Sad and Gothenburg in an exhibition that explores connections between two cultural contexts beyond the traditional centres of their respective countries.
The exhibition features works by Jasna Gulan Ružić, Maja Erdeljanin, Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić and Dragan Vojvodić from Novi Sad, alongside Lars Åsling, Gülbin Kulbay, Elizabeth Sercombe and Petter Yxell from Gothenburg.

The title [CROSSCUT] refers to the film editing technique of cross-cutting, in which two or more scenes taking place in different locations are interwoven. Here, the term becomes a metaphor for bringing together different artistic practices, experiences, and perspectives, creating connections between two cities and their cultural environments.
Beyond the Centre does not seek to represent either the Novi Sad or Gothenburg art scene as a whole. Instead, it brings together a selection of artists whose practices intersect across different media, generations and approaches to artistic work. The exhibition focuses on the space between these practices — on what emerges through their encounter rather than on a single, unified narrative.
The works on view span a range of media, including painting, photography, video, installation, graphic work and artists’ books. Their diversity reflects the different approaches of the participating artists while allowing unexpected connections to emerge across the exhibition.
For Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić, who initiated the project, the exhibition continues a long-term artistic and professional relationship with Gothenburg and Konstepidemin. It also extends her interest in creating connections between Novi Sad and Nordic cultural contexts, and in working across the boundaries between literature, visual art and curatorial practice.
The exhibition is part of the Art Links project and is on view at Gallery Konstepidemin in Gothenburg from 14 to 19 August 2026.
