The exhibition NORDIC FRAME by writer, artist and researcher Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić opened at the American Corner Novi Sad on Thursday, 17 September, bringing together a series of photo-narratives developed through her long-term artistic and research engagement with the Nordic and Arctic regions.

NORDIC FRAME is part of an interdisciplinary artistic research project that Vojvodić has developed since 2006 through photography, literature, cultural studies, collage, and artist’s books, drawing on her stays and journeys in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Svalbard, and Greenland.

Through a visual reading of people and places, her work explores questions of identity, belonging and home, migration and mobility, the position of Indigenous communities, sustainability, and the relationship between people and the natural environment in regions undergoing rapid social and climatic change.

Alongside Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić’s photo-narratives, the exhibition also features her video work Spitsbergen, filmed during her artist residency in Svalbard in 2024. The video can be viewed [HERE].

At the opening, Dr Vojvod presented a DJ set featuring contemporary Scandinavian music, including tracks by Björk, Sigur Rós, múm, and others.

Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić is a writer, artist and researcher from Novi Sad and the author of several novels and works of non-fiction. She has participated in artistic and research projects in the Nordic countries, Greenland, the United States and Japan, and has exhibited her work in Serbia, Croatia, Norway, Sweden and Estonia. As part of the exhibition Mobility, Home, and Belonging, presented within the Council for European Studies (CES) programme at Columbia University in New York, she exhibited her work Farsickness/Homesickness/Homelessness.

She has received a number of international grants, fellowships and literary awards. Her work brings together contemporary art, literature and intercultural dialogue, often exploring questions of place, identity, mobility and belonging.

The exhibition NORDIC FRAME is on view at the American Corner Novi Sad until 3 October 2026. It can be visited on weekdays from 10 am to 8 pm.
