On Thursday, 17 September at 7:30 p.m., the American Corner Novi Sad will host the opening of “NORDIC FRAME, Photo Narratives”, an exhibition by writer, artist and researcher Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić, developed through her long-term artistic and research journeys across the Nordic and Arctic regions.

“NORDIC FRAME” is part of an interdisciplinary artistic research project that Maletin Vojvodić has been developing since 2006 through photography, literature, cultural studies, collage and artists’ books, during her stays in Norway, Sweden and Finland, as well as Iceland, Svalbard and Greenland.

Through a visual reading of people and places, the works explore questions of identity, belonging and home, migration and mobility, the position of Indigenous communities, sustainability, and the relationship between people and nature in environments undergoing rapid social and climate-related change.

Alongside Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić’s photo narratives, the exhibition will also feature her video work “Spitsbergen”, created during her artist residency on Svalbard in 2024.

Maja Erdeljanin and Jasna Gulan Ružić will each present one work created during their stay in Gothenburg as part of Art Links 2026, an artistic exchange between Novi Sad and Gothenburg. Together with Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić, they took part in this exchange, which brought together artists and artistic practices from the two cities.

At the opening, Dr Vojvod will present a selection of contemporary Scandinavian music through a DJ set.

Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić is a writer, artist and researcher from Novi Sad, and the author of several novels and works of nonfiction. She has taken part in artistic and research projects across the Nordic countries, Greenland, the United States and Japan, and has exhibited in Serbia, Croatia, Norway, Sweden and Estonia. As part of the exhibition “Mobility, Home, and Belonging”, presented within the Council for European Studies (CES) programme at Columbia University in New York, she exhibited her work “Farsickness/Homesickness/Homelessness”. She has received numerous international grants, fellowships and literary awards. Her work brings together contemporary art, literature and intercultural dialogue.

The exhibition “NORDIC FRAME” will be on view at the American Corner Novi Sad until 3 October 2026, and can be visited on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
